Made by creatives for creatives, The Northeast Arts Commune is a member-based, communal artistic workspace and public classroom. The Northeast Arts Commune is a cohort of artists, makers, and creative types supporting each other both in space and ideas.

We’re a collective driven by shared neighborly values and a passion for a creating. Our classes inspire and remind us of our ability to learn new things.

We look to stimulate economic growth surrounding the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District by creating an affordable workspace for creatives to explore their passions alongside opportunities to show/sell their work, and by hiring local artists to teach our classes.

We love local and we’re so down to collaborate.

The Northeast Arts Commune strives to provide an innovative and accessible art space that encourages and reinforces the natural creativity that lies in all of us. The Northeast Arts Commune seeks to energize a community from diverse walks of life through pursuits of the arts and the creative process.

Being creative feels good and it’s good for you too! At The Northeast Arts Commune, we believe everyone can get into the creative flow with the right space, tools, and community supporting you.

Our operations team is small but mighty. We’re a tight-knit team at The Northeast Arts Commune focused on ensuring our employees are supported creatively and compensated properly. Comprised of local artists, our team is passionate about community and craftsmanship.

Affordable, 12,000 ft² co-working creative space.

The Northeast Arts Commune is founded by Jordyn Kromminga, a small business marketing specialist and entrepreneur who has spent the last 8+ years assisting in the launch and growth of multiple Twin Cities start-ups.

Kromminga was inspired to open The Northeast Arts Commune due to a major lack of workspace in her Northeast Minneapolis home. She found this wasn’t only a personal need but something lacking within the community. The demand for access to an affordable environment for artists to gather and collaborate, store their supplies securely, and network with an encouraging community is real.

Kromminga is a home improvement enthusiast and major gym rat who likes to get outdoors and enjoys incorporating creativity into everything she does. Her creative passions include glass fusing, writing, painting, drawing, lapidary, crocheting, sewing, wire wrapping, sculpture, DJing, music production, home improvement, & making sh*t happen.

Working alongside Kromminga is our intern, Avynlee—The Northeast Art Commune’s entrepreneur-in-training. Even as a fifth-grader, Avynlee has been an essential driving force in The Northeast Arts Commune since the very beginning. She’s been sharpening her small business skills, is an excellent team player, and is the best Northeast Arts Commune cheerleader we could ever ask for! Her creative passions include writing, dancing, music, drawing, jewelry making, painting, imagining new games.
